I started to see and feel energy when I was 16 years old but didn’t fully understand what I was seeing and feeling until I was in my late 20s. It was suggested to me by my mother that I take some Healing Touch classes which I did when I really began to understand what energy was and how I could use Healing Touch to help facilitate healing within people. I also took the level 1 course for Healing Tough for Animals.
I was interested in perusing this work but life got in the way and I went to graduate school for my Masters degree in Applied Behavioural Science and started a 14 year journey and career in Family Counselling.
A few years ago a friend of mine asked me if I could help her with a really bad pain she had for the last few weeks in her big toe; the pain was so bad that walking was difficult. I did a few basic techniques that I remembered from my healing touch classes way back when and within 20 minutes the energy work that I did on her toe helped her enough that she wasn’t in pain anymore. She then asked me if I could do this work on horses.
Her daughter had a horse and the two of them were having difficulties with each other and she was wondering if I could help facilitate an understanding between them that would work for them both. I dusted off the level one book for Healing Touch for Animals, reviewed it andset off for the barn to meet up with her daughter and her horse. When my hands entered into the horse’s energy field to start using some basic Healing Touch for Animals techniques i immediately had an overwhelming sense of sadness and frustration coming from her.
She was sending me pictures of a foal she had who was stolen by another mare, and the frustration of having her human ride her beyond her abilities or desire. She sent me pictures of wanting little children riding her and being the teacher for these little kids and the feelings of joy that were emanating from her.
It was through this interaction I realised I also have the ability to communicate with animals, albeit at a beginner level. When I was doing a simple technique on the horse I suggested to my friend’s daughter that now would be the time for her to apologise for making the horse jump at a height she didn’t want to as well as competing when she didn’t want to compete.
When my girlfriend’s daughter apologised and took responsibility for making her horse to do things she didn’t want to it was as if the energy shifted and there was an unspoken agreement between rider and horse. Within two weeks the horse was sold to a family who had a little girl who wanted to learn how to ride. My girlfriend’s daughter went on to buy a horse that clearly wanted to compete and enjoyed jumping at higher levels.
My girlfriend continued to use my services for this new horse as he became sick or was lame and I was able to practice the basic skills that I remembered from my level one course.
It was during this time that I realized I really wanted to work with animals and was motivated to start taking all the Healing Touch for Animals’ courses and work towards becoming a certified Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner. It has been a two and a half year journey to finally become a Certified Practitioner and I look forward to continue to see where this journey of communicating with animals and helping to facilitate healing within them will take us.
